Honda is smart because the old EU2000i was a huge success, so they didn’t get rid of that model. They just updated the design and added some new electronics to control the generator.
You may get underwhelmed because all you’re going to get there manual and the generator itself. There’s no toolkit, no oil or extra cables, or anything else.

Honda EU2200i Generator with CO-MINDER at a Glance
Before you can use your generator, you have to add gas. And I am using 10w30, which is what the manual recommends, and you’re going to use about 14 ounces.
Honda uses the same gas cap they’ve used on other models. Now this works really well it’s got off/on the control for the fumes.
To add your oil, you just need to remove this maintenance cover. EU2200i is the same design Honda used in the old model, and you can remove it with a Phillips head screwdriver or even a coin if you don’t have any tools.
Now you need to add your oil, and that’s easy to do by removing the dipstick and filling it up until the oil comes to the bottom of the threads.
The design of the new EU2200i has stayed the same they use the same engine and exhaust. All of the controls are in the same positions as the original model. This is a good thing because this design worked very well and I’m a big fan of having the outlets on the thin side of the generator.
Honda’s off/on switch actually has a third position in the middle. And that’s the fuel-off option, so if you put it to the fuel-off position, the generator will run itself out of fuel, and that’s perfect for winter storage.

The first thing you notice in the new generator model of Honda EU2200i in comparison to the old model EU2000i is the brand new 121cc engine which produces 10% more power than the old model. This greatly increases the generator’s reliability and durability.
The All-New Honda EU2200i CO-MINDER has a brand new Honda GXR120 engine is is is small 121 cc, 4-strokes, horizontal shaft, single-cylinder, heavy-duty gasoline power engine. Which is made by Honda motor company for heavy-duty commercial applications.
The GXR120 T/RT engine is OHC (overhead cam) construction. high compression ratio for better fuel efficiency; mechanical governor; Forced injection lubrication system; High-performance ignition starter and transistor magneto ignition. The engine can be equipped with a float, a horizontal throttle, or a diaphragm carburetor.
This one is the updated version of a very popular Honda GXR100. These engines are a few of the strongest you can find and are designed to last for very long. Many contractors working together with Honda generators using them for years without any defects.
Now, what is the power output of this stunning engine? You get a maximum AC output of 2200W at 120V (18.3A), a rated AC output of 1800W (15A), and a DC output of 100W at 12V (8.3A).

Need more power? you can easily connect the EU2200i Companion with a regular EU2200i for 4400 Watts of power. The EU2200i Companion will also parallel with EU2000iK1/T1 models.
Outlets
It features 1 DC outlet: The DC receptacle should ONLY be used for charging 12-volt automotive-type batteries.
EU2200i includes the standard outlets you would expect from a 2000-watt inverter generator designed for different purposes. It comes with 120V / 125V duplex AC outlets proper for powering most of the electric appliances.
But this model did not include a dedicated outlet for RV connection but There is a Honda EU2200i Companion variation featuring a 30 Amp receptacle for RV.
You just need to get a cheap adapter to make it work with your travel trailer or RV.

Now, this app is pretty advanced. It actually brings up your camera, and you’re going to take a picture of the serial number on your generator, and it’ll scan the QR code, so that saves you a lot of typing, and once you put it in, it’s going to tell you exactly what to do.
Follow the instructions on the screen, and this thing literally will pair your phone with your generator. It asked me if it was a new or used generator and the reason it’s doing that it can also track your maintenance.
And then I went to this screen; this thing looks awesome. It looks like an automotive tack, and it was actually communicating with the generator.
With the App, you can check if the eco throttle is on or off, turn off the generator, see the power usage, and many more.
You can not turn on the generator with the app, the model with electrical start have that option, like Honda EU7000iS.
CO-MINDER: Advanced Carbon Monoxide Detection System
Generator exhaust contains carbon monoxide which is a poison you can’t see or smell. Never use a generator inside a home or garage even if the doors and windows are open, only use it outside far away from windows doors, and vents.
As EU2200i is equipped with a co-minder function I put it to the test. I close my car windows and put the generator inside my car, and turn it on.
Then I close all the car doors and let it run, but after less than a minute the generator shut down by itself when it detects CO in the air. It seems the technology works perfectly as that clam.

The control panel is where everything is brand new, and they finally put a weatherproof cover over it.
The two 120-watt outlets, but this thing is even smarter; they’ve got two little magnets in this cover so that when you fold it closed, it actually will hold itself shut.
- Engine Switch: The engine switch controls the fuel valve and the ignition system.
- OFF: Turns the fuel valve off and puts the engine into neutral.

- FUEL OFF: Only close the gasoline valve while leaving the ignition system ON.

- DC Receptacle [Types A, A2]: Only 12-volt automotive-type batteries should be charged using the DC receptacle. There is no regulation of the DC charging output.
- DC Circuit Protector [A, A2 types]: When the DC charging circuit is overloaded, when there is a problem with the battery, or when the connections between the battery and the generator are poor, the DC circuit protector automatically shuts off the DC battery charging circuit.
- Overload Indicator: The panel includes Several light indicators that serve to show you when its oil levels are insufficient, the generator is ready and the generator is overloaded.
